Manual lenses offer a number of advantages: they are much cheaper than their AF counterparts, they offer very pleasing and sometimes very different bokeh, they develop your understanding of focus and especially for applications like macros and cinema they provide finer control over focus and aperture changes. You can enable Focus Peaking and Focus Assist features in your camera to make manual focusing easier.
