The Most Rented Gear of 2021

Last year we did not publish our list of the most rented gear of 2020 due to low order numbers and sparse demand data. In 2021 however, things have been better and we have once again compiled the numbers and put together our list of the most rented gear of 2021. As always, the disclaimer first: this is just data. This list only shows what was the most rented gear in 2021, among the items we carry and the customers we serve. Other than the information that this gear went out the most, this list does not offer any additional meaningful insight. It is certainly not a reflection on the quality of any particular gear or brand.

There has been a large churn in all 3 lists as compared to the corresponding lists for 2019, and that's probably not a surprise over two years. It just highlights the fact that demand patterns in camera gear are continuously shifting and are difficult to predict! In 2022, I expect DSLR cameras will be driven almost entirely off this list and be replaced by mirrorless cameras. Among the lenses, it will be interesting to see if the top two lenses - which have retained their top slots since 2019 - will be unseated by any of their competitors!
