Where This Camera Is Not the Right Choice
✕ Close-up shots, interviews, or talking-head content
- The lens is an ultra-wide, fixed-focus lens with no autofocus, and the minimum focus distance is roughly 60cm — anything closer will be soft.
- For a presenter sitting at a desk or close interview setups, a camera with autofocus (like a vlogging mirrorless) will serve you better.
✕ Long, sustained high-resolution recording
- Battery and thermal limits mean extended 8K recording sessions will need battery swaps and breaks. Confirm the exact runtime at 8K60 specifically before quoting this to a customer, since GoPro's published figures cover 8K/30, not the higher frame rate mode.
✕ Shoots needing interchangeable lenses or shallow depth of field
- The fixed wide lens can't replicate a portrait or telephoto look. For that, a mirrorless is the better fit — ask us if you need help with this.
✕ Shoots where every gram matters
- At roughly 209g, it's noticeably heavier and bulkier than a HERO13 Black. On a long helmet-mounted shoot, that extra weight may be felt.
